How we chose these Any.do alternatives

We looked for open-source tools that replace Any.do's core: task lists, reminders, and planning, with optional boards for projects. We verified each project's license, recent activity, stars, and self-hosting in its repository, and flag licenses that are not standard open source. See our methodology for the full criteria.

Closest to Any.do

Super Productivity is the closest for personal use: lists, Kanban, an Eisenhower matrix, a Pomodoro timer, built-in time tracking, and sync with GitHub, GitLab, and Jira, working offline with no account. Vikunja adds list, Kanban, and Gantt views, CalDAV, and mobile apps.

Kanban boards

Wekan, Planka, Kan, Fizzy, and Kanba are Kanban boards. Kanri is an offline personal board built with Tauri, and Donetick targets shared household chores with fair assignment. Freeter organizes workspaces, Orgnise is a broader project tool, and Mimrai is a minimalist manager with an AI assistant.

Important: source-available and archived

Planka uses its own fair use licence rather than a standard open source one, and Fizzy uses the O'Saasy License, so check them before commercial use. The Mimrai repository has an AGPL file but its additional terms are unclear. Kanba is MIT, but several of these boards have paid editions.

License details

Super Productivity, Wekan, and Kanba are MIT. Vikunja, Kan, Donetick, Orgnise, and Mimrai are AGPL-3.0. Kanri and Freeter are GPL-3.0. Planka uses the Planka Fair Use License and Fizzy uses the O'Saasy License.

Maintenance status

Super Productivity, Wekan, Planka, Vikunja, and Donetick had commits within days of this update. Kanba's last commit was in August 2026, Freeter's in May 2026, and Mimrai's in March 2026.

Why look for a Any.do alternative?

Any.do is a proprietary cloud app where tasks, calendar data, and reminders live on its servers, and many features sit behind a premium plan. Open-source options keep data local or on your own server and avoid subscription pricing, but few match Any.do's mobile polish and calendar integrations.
