How we chose these Conductor alternatives

We looked for open-source tools that overlap with Conductor's core: running several AI coding agents in parallel, each isolated in its own Git worktree, with a way to review their changes. We verified each project's license, recent activity, stars, and platforms in its repository, and flag source-available licenses. We left out Dray because we could not find a public repository for it. See our methodology for the full criteria.

Important: you bring your own agents and subscriptions

These tools orchestrate agents such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, and Cursor, and you pay for those subscriptions or API usage separately. They add isolation, parallelism, and review, not a model.

Closest to Conductor

Orca is the closest, with parallel CLI agents in isolated Git worktrees, built-in terminals, a browser, and diff review, and it runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux. Emdash and Superset also isolate many agents in worktrees, and Synara and Jean work on top of the subscriptions you already have, with Jean adding GitHub and Linear integrations.

Remote and cross-device control

Paseo is a self-hosted orchestrator for agents such as Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor, controllable from phone, desktop, web, or the command line, with an optional self-hosted Hub. T3 Code offers an assistant interface with suggestions, debugging, and IDE integration.

Important: Superset is source available

Superset uses the Elastic License 2.0, which allows free use but forbids offering it as a managed service, so it is source available rather than standard open source. Orca, T3 Code, and Synara are MIT, Emdash, Jean, and Paseo are Apache-2.0.

Maintenance status

All seven projects had commits within days of this update, and most are young and fast-moving, so expect frequent changes.

Why look for a Conductor alternative?

Conductor is a proprietary Mac app, so it only runs on macOS and its development depends on one company. Open-source alternatives run on more platforms, let you inspect the code, work with the agent subscriptions you already have, and add remote control, at the cost of less polish and, in most cases, bringing your own agent subscriptions.
