6 Best Open Source PagerDuty Alternatives in 2026

Looking for an open source PagerDuty alternative? We compared 6 open source alerting, monitoring, and status page tools by license, self-hosting, and incident features. Most are status pages or monitors rather than on-call paging tools, and several use open-core or source-available licenses.

How we chose these PagerDuty alternatives

We looked for open-source tools that overlap with PagerDuty's core: receiving alerts, routing them to the right people, and managing incidents and status communication. We verified each project's license, recent activity, stars, and self-hosting in its repository. Dedicated open-source on-call scheduling is rare, so most of these cover alerting, incident handling, or status pages. See our methodology for the full criteria.

Important: most of these are not paging tools

Kener, Statusnook, and StatusScout are status page and monitoring tools. They do not provide on-call schedules, escalation policies, or phone and SMS paging like PagerDuty. Keep centralizes alerts and automates responses, and OneUptime covers monitoring, incidents, and status pages, so they come closest, but none is a full PagerDuty replacement.

Important: licenses are mixed

Keep is MIT outside its ee directory, and OneUptime is Apache-2.0 with an ee directory for Enterprise code. StatusScout uses a source-available license that restricts reselling it as a hosted service. Wachd is Apache-2.0, with paid tiers for cloud AI backends and compliance features, and Kener and Statusnook are MIT.

Wachd and AI analysis

Wachd receives alerts from Grafana, Datadog, and Prometheus and adds AI-generated root cause analysis. It deploys with a Helm chart on Kubernetes and needs an AI backend you choose, such as Ollama, Claude, OpenAI, or Gemini. It was created in April 2026 and has only about 40 stars.

Maintenance status

Keep, OneUptime, Kener, Wachd, and StatusScout had commits within weeks of this update. Statusnook has had no commits since October 2024, so it is inactive.

Why look for a PagerDuty alternative?

PagerDuty is a proprietary hosted service priced per user with add-ons for AI, runbooks, and status pages, and incident data stored on its platform. Open-source alternatives let you self-host alerts and incident data, avoid per-seat pricing, and integrate with your own monitoring stack, at the cost of running the platform and a weaker on-call paging layer.

Which one should you choose?

Want to centralize and automate alerts

Keep centralizes alerts from monitoring tools, correlates them, and automates responses, under MIT apart from its ee directory.

Keep

Want monitoring, incidents, and status pages in one

OneUptime covers uptime monitoring, incident management, and status pages, with enterprise code in an ee directory.

OneUptime

Want AI analysis of alerts on your own infrastructure

Wachd analyzes alerts from Grafana, Datadog, and Prometheus with a local or cloud AI backend, but it is very young.

Wachd

Only need a public status page

Kener is an MIT status page and uptime monitor you deploy with Docker, but it does not page people.
