How we chose these Youform alternatives

We looked for open-source tools that overlap with Youform's core: building forms and surveys with conditional logic, collecting responses, and analyzing them. We verified each project's license, recent activity, stars, and self-hosting in its repository. Youform is a hosted form builder, so the list mixes general form builders, survey platforms, and privacy-focused tools, and we flag open-core licenses and projects that appear inactive or unavailable. See our methodology for the full criteria.

Important: form builders and survey platforms are different

OpnForm and HeyForm are closest to Youform: drag-and-drop form builders with logic and integrations. Formbricks focuses on product and customer feedback with in-app surveys, LimeSurvey is a full survey platform with 28+ question types and quota management, and Palform emphasizes end-to-end encryption. Formizee is aimed at developers with an API and SDKs.

Closest to Youform

OpnForm offers a drag-and-drop builder with custom fields, conditional logic, branding, and integrations, and HeyForm offers a Typeform-like conversational layout. Both can be self-hosted and also have hosted services.

License details

HeyForm and Palform are AGPL-3.0, and Formbricks and OpnForm are AGPL-3.0 with enterprise features under separate licenses, so they are open core. LimeSurvey is GPL-2.0-or-later, Ikiform is listed as MIT, and Formizee is Apache-2.0.

Privacy and encryption

Palform encrypts responses end to end, though self-hosting is not officially supported yet. Formizee advertises per-tenant AES-256 encryption, and Formbricks, OpnForm, and LimeSurvey emphasize GDPR compliance and data control through self-hosting.

Maintenance status

Ikiform's GitHub repository and website are currently unreachable, so treat it as unavailable. Formizee has had no commits since July 2025, and Palform is a very small project. Formbricks, HeyForm, OpnForm, and LimeSurvey were updated within weeks of this update.

Why look for a Youform alternative?

Youform is a proprietary hosted form builder whose limits on responses, features, and branding depend on the plan, with responses stored on its servers. Open-source alternatives let you self-host forms and data, remove branding, control privacy and encryption, and avoid per-response pricing, at the cost of running the service yourself.
